"By the mercies of God...present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God" (Romans 12:1).
The right use of one's self is the most valuable lesson that can be learned. We are not to do brain work and stop there, or make physical exertion and stop there; we are to make the best use of the various parts that compose the human machinery-brain, bone, muscle, head, and heart (1MCP 364.3).
I just came back from a Christian Adventist conference that meets every five years and this time, over 100,000 people attended. Along with hundreds of booths and exhibits, our ministry, MindCare, was present, sharing resources, offering support, and connecting with people from all over the world.
It was an amazing experience to learn, grow, and see how others are using their life experiences, skills, and passions to create ministries of their own. From health and education to music and technology, people are finding creative ways to serve God and help others. It reminded me of something important; we are all missionaries in our own way.
Some are called overseas, but many are called to serve right where they are in their neighborhoods, schools, churches, and communities. God has given each of us a mind to think, a body to move, and a heart to love. We are capable of doing something meaningful for someone else.
Let's not get so caught up in our own struggles that we forget the power of reaching out. When we allow God to use us, even in small ways, we become vessels of hope and healing. Someone is praying for the very encouragement or help you can give.
